Life and Work of the Church

Some news items will have a contact name. If there is no contact, or you are not sure who that person is, use the general church contacts to get in touch.
Hamilton Children's Choir - World Symposium on Choral Music
The Hamilton's Children's Choir (HCC) has been selected to perform at the World Symposium on Choral Music 2026. This is an extremely prestigious event and the HCC is among only eleven choirs worldwide invited to perform, and notably, the only choir – adult or children’s – representing all of the Americas at this year’s symposium.
   What's our connection?
Our beloved music director Courtney Porch is the Program Manager for the HCC. Courtney and her family have long been connected with the area and the church and she was a member of the junior and then senior choir. She now uses her talents during the service each week, both with keyboard and voice; manages and leads the seasonal choir; and treats us to her beautiful voice with solos.

Find out more about the Hamilton Children's Choir on their website - Our Story, and the Symposium press release.
We will post details of the feature tour concert in Hamilton when they are available.

Collections - The United Church is 100 this year!
Please see the page UC@100 for more details.

The Choir is Back!
The choir will be back for Sundays in Advent!

Proceeds from the Yard Sale
The yard sale on 24 August raised over $1000! Thank you to everyone who visited us and donated. We hope you enjoy your new-to-you items. The money raised will go to local missions such as the food banks, Salvation Army, and for Christmas Care boxes.

Congratulations to Jerry Taylor!
Jerry travelled to Washington D.C. last week to accept the Medal of Honor [sic] from President Joe Biden, on behalf of his great-grand uncle, Private Philip G. Shadrach.
There are several excellent articles linked below with the story, and we've included some pictures of the event, sent to us by a relative of Jerry's.
